{"id":4476,"date":"2009-08-07T02:10:23","date_gmt":"2009-08-07T09:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beatseqr.com\/blog\/?p=62"},"modified":"2009-08-07T02:10:23","modified_gmt":"2009-08-07T09:10:23","slug":"roxor-4-2-and-steppa-v0-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sc-fa.com\/blog\/roxor-4-2-and-steppa-v0-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Roxor 4.2 and Steppa v0.26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce that Roxor 4.2 and Steppa v0.26 are available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/beatseqr.com\/blog\/downloads\/\">downloads<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p>Roxor 4.2 features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Launching!\u00a0 I think I&#8217;ve figured out all of framework problems I was having.<\/li>\n<li>Auto-updates, and if not fully automatic, try &#8220;check for updates&#8221; in the application menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Steppa v0.26 features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>takes advantage of the \/midinotenum1 &#8211; \/midinotenum8 OSC messages that Roxor can emit&#8230; so for instance, in Roxor, there are what we call stepper controls labeled &#8220;Note number&#8221; and sub-labeled 1 through 8 as see highlighted in yellow in this image:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Midi Note Number stepper controls in Roxor\" src=\"http:\/\/img.skitch.com\/20090807-mdwhnk6f5i4u4n4idjhc2wf5qg.png\" alt=\"Midi Note Number stepper controls in Roxor\" width=\"580\" height=\"363\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Steppa will now take advantage of these controls and let you set the arbitrary midi note number to whatever these controls are set for.\u00a0 This is awesome, because now you can really expand, for instance, which of the 25 instruments in Apple&#8217;s Logic Ultrabeat plugin you want to loop with in roxor+steppa:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-63\" title=\"instruments_ultrabeat20090721\" src=\"http:\/\/www.beatseqr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/instruments_ultrabeat20090721-300x226.png\" alt=\"instruments_ultrabeat20090721\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or instead of being stopped at instrument 8 in Propellerhead Reason&#8217;s Redrum drum module, you could push one or two channels out to address redrum&#8217;s 9th and 10th instrument slot by changing the midi note number controls up a couple of numbers.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-64\" title=\"redrum_big\" src=\"http:\/\/www.beatseqr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/redrum_big-300x136.jpg\" alt=\"redrum_big\" width=\"300\" height=\"136\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And further research has shown that you easily use roxor+steppa to control synth and sampler modules in any Apple Mac OS X application that can receive and utilize midi notes&#8230;\u00a0 some of which include PureData, Quartz Composer, Chuck, Live, Logic, Garageband, Motion (!)&#8230; the list goes on and on and on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Big huge ups to Derek on implementing midinotenum!!\u00a0 It&#8217;s awesome!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce that Roxor 4.2 and Steppa v0.26 are available on the downloads page.
