    I found about your product after reading a very interesting article on CreativeDigitalMusic website. I also saw your video posted about the V3 of the Beatseqr and i was quite impressed by how easy to use this tool is. I do assume it's compatible with any DAW. I for example use Logic, and i've been wondering if there are any troubleshoots if using it combined to the ultrabeat or esx24 of logic. For example i can load any sample on the ultrabeat & then create the groove with the beatseqr ? Also does it have an open script for MAX/MSP? (i've recently got into that as well and exploring new boudries!)
    Any answer will be much appreciated!!

  5. Hey there. Yes, it works with pretty much any DAW that accepts midi in data. Logic works really well with beatseqr/steppa. The midi note number selector mode for the faders was engineered specifically to reach all of the instruments in ultrabeat. The ESX24 should be no problem at all as the sequencer engine that Steppa is just spits out a midi loop in a standard format that the ESX24 is fine using. For clarity, when you create the groove, you're creating it outside of the sequencer included in logic, so you're using Logic as the sound source and externally sequencing it with beatseqr and steppa. You can, however, record the midi note data as it's coming in realtime with logic, so that's pretty cool. That equates to live performance capture that you can go back and edit as desired. The max/msp patch is created and maintained by Derek Scott, so I defer to him as to if he wants to open source it. I know he's considering it. I'll ask him to chime in on this topic.

  7. @E.D: Yep…Steppa is open source, for sure. The zip file should have both the application versions (Leopard and Snow Leopard, as well as the raw max/msp patch). I know there can be many improvements to the app, and probably better ways to do certain things than the way I implemented them.

    @Matias: Yes, I have made it work with the drum rack before. Totally works.
